It is closely related to the Phoenician script. The find is attributed to the mid th century BCE. Gezer calendar The script of the Gezer calendar , dated to the late 10th century BCE, bears strong resemblance to contemporaneous Phoenician script from inscriptions at Byblos. The 8th-century Hebrew inscriptions exhibit many specific and exclusive traits, leading modern scholars to conclude that already in the 10th century BCE the Paleo-Hebrew script was used by wide scribal circles. Even though very few 10th-century Hebrew inscriptions have been found, the quantity of the epigraphic material from the 8th century onward shows the gradual spread of literacy among the people of the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah. In a Phoenician inscription in 22 lines was found among the ruins of Sidon. Each line contained about 40 or 50 characters. A facsimile copy of the writing was published in United States Magazine in July The inscription was on the lid of a large stone sarcophagus carved in fine Egyptian style.

The date and nature of the Exodus have been subjects of scholarly debate since the beginnings of Egyptology in the mid th century, and the dispute continues unabated today.
There is no consensus regarding the date of the Israelite slavery, nor its nature, nor even its historicity…It is an area where archaeological interpretation and biblical narrative collide” Oblath A major stumbling block is that there is no mention of Israelites in Egypt or of an Exodus from Egypt in Egyptian records: The book [Exodus] relates to Egyptian history but only in a vague way. Not a single Egyptian is identified by name, not even the pharaohs, despite the fact that two of them, the pharaohs of the oppression and the exodus, are involved… Historians acknowledge that, after more than two centuries of archaeological research, there is still an absence of evidence for the presence of Israel in Egypt Johnstone There is an oft-repeated adage in Biblical and archaeological studies with regard to efforts to reconstruct events of thousands of years ago from the bits and tatters of information that have survived: Where would one expect to find written records of the presence of Israel in Egypt, or of the Exodus?

Mystery surrounds newly discovered sculpture of king’s head dating to biblical times By The Associated Press Jun 09, The 2-inch sculpture is an exceedingly rare example of figurative art from the Holy Land during the 9th century B. Exquisitely preserved but for a bit of missing beard, nothing quite like it has been found before. Archaeologists unearthed the diminutive figurine in during excavations at a site called Abel Beth Maacah, located just south of Israel’s border with Lebanon, near the modern-day town of Metula. Nineteenth-century archaeologists identified the site, then home to a village called Abil al-Qamh, with the similarly named city mentioned in the Book of Kings. During the 9th century B. According to the Bible, Israel is the name given by God to Jacob. The modern country of Israel includes two distinct nationalities, the Palestinian and the Jewish. Each nationality is inextricable from its religious identity. The Palestinians are Arabs whose traditions are founded in Muslim culture; the Jews define their culture in large part around their religion as well. Each group identifies as part of a larger, international religious and cultural community, and each has a history in the region that goes back to ancient times.

Instead, rural communities had their own religious beliefs using statuary and other artifacts. By way of contrast, the intellectual community in the metropolis produced a text, which was written entirely from the perspective of the upper or ruling classes.

The Earth is flat at the poles, however, it isn’t square and a person will not fall off into the abyss as believed years ago.
This belief was accept until proven otherwise. The Earth has always revolved around the Sun and it was always round. The only thing that has changed is people’s understanding of this reality.

Ancient Chinese Explorers The fact is that archeology can never prove any of the theological suppositions of the Bible. Archeologists can often tell you what happened and when and where and how and even why. No archeologists can tell anyone what it means, and most of us don’t try. Yet many people want to know whether the events of the Bible are real, historic events. We want to make the Bible history. Many people think it has to be history or nothing.
But there is no word for history in the Hebrew Bible. In other words, what did the biblical writers think they were doing? That’s a modern discipline. They were telling stories. They wanted you to know what these purported events mean. The Bible is didactic literature; it wants to teach, not just to describe. We try to make the Bible something it is not, and that’s doing an injustice to the biblical writers.
